It happens to the best of us – no matter how organised and clear-headed we usually are, there is sure to come a time when we misplace something of great importance… like the keys to our house.
There’s nothing more annoying than finding yourself locked out of your house, but if you find that you’re losing your keys more frequently than you’d like, there are a few little tricks you can try to help you retrace your steps and find them without having to call out a 24 hour locksmith… again!
Our first tip is, no matter how much of a hurry you’re in or how frustrated you are at the fact that you can’t find your keys, to look carefully and systematically. The more you rummage, the more frustrated you’re likely to get – and the less likely you are to find what you’re looking for.
Interestingly, it can also help to say the name of what it is you’ve lost out loud while you look for it, potentially jogging your memory as to where you left said lost object.
But the first place you should check is always the spot where you usually keep what you’ve lost – and to help prevent losing items in the first place, always make sure that important keys and so on are kept in their own specific place.
Keeping the house tidy is another way to help prevent lost objects becoming too problematic. The messier your home is, the more places there will be for your keys to hide so try to keep up with the housework week by week, if only for your mental health!
